FAQ
Can I breed fish in the 12 inch Hobbyist setup?
Yes — many species breed more readily in tannin-enriched environments. Bettas, Apistogramma, and various Tetras spawn naturally in blackwater setups. Almond leaves also serve as egg-laying surfaces.
How long does the Driftwood last?
Quality driftwood is extremely durable and lasts years in an aquarium. It develops a natural biofilm that is harmless and actively beneficial for shrimp and bottom-dwellers.
Should I remove Almond Leaves when they decompose?
No. Decomposing leaves continue releasing tannins and provide grazing material. Remove only when fully broken down and replace with a fresh leaf.
